2021 Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) Short Video Competition
About the Competition
The Delegation of the European Union to Nigeria and ECOWAS organised a short video competition on sexual and gender-based violence as a means of eliminating its prevalence in society.
The objective of the competition was to stimulate the awareness of Nigerians on issues of gender-based violence, ensuring that the voices of young people are heard and taken into consideration when shaping and implementing programmes and policies in Nigeria.
Entrants were asked to express what they understood by sexual and gender-based violence and ways to eliminate it in society. They were given the opportunity to unleash their creativity in a three-minute video to illustrate the positive changes they would like to see. Their creativity and ideas were expressed with moving pictures using a true-life story or fiction.
Over 600 entries were received. After a very rigorous screening process, the panel of 10 judges selected six of the best videos as winners. Each of the winners was awarded a prize for producing an outstanding short video that clearly spoke to SGBV.
The competition is now closed.
